Happy fall, y’all! Following our 10th consecutive “Best of Orlando” #1 win for Best Studio Body and Soul (and snatching the top spot in the Best Gym category as well, beating out national fitness giants, LA Fitness and Planet Fitness), you might think the festivities and celebrations are over. After all, there are few things more worthy of celebration than a well-loved, healthy, safe space!
The month of September, however, marks a celebration that transcends just our Central Florida dance community; that’s right, we’re talking National Dance Day – taking place on Saturday, September 20th this year! Keep reading to learn more about the history of this special day, the FREE classes we’re offering, and the importance of movement – no matter your age or ability.
Eager to see what we’re all about before the 20th? Check out our class schedule to find a class that speaks to you. See for yourself why Orlando consistently ranks us as the #1 adult dance and fitness studio in Central Florida!

What Is National Dance Day?
Established in 2010 by the American Dance Movement (formerly the Dizzy Feet Foundation), National Dance Day (NDD) is an annual country-wide initiative designed to recognize and celebrate all things “dance.” The goal is multi-faceted: to educate on the many health, wellness, and artistic expression benefits dance offers; to foster accessibility and inclusivity in dance; and to encourage Americans of all ages to explore and incorporate movement into their lives.
What does that mean in practice? Well, more than you might think. Not only does American Dance Movement (ADM) co-host events in cities around the country, but they also present a yearly routine tutorial put together by one of the industry’s best choreographers – the main goal being a combination of increased accessibility and empowerment to unleash creativity by making the routine their own.
Pretty cool, right? We sure can’t think of a better way to recognize such a valuable and important art form.
How Studio K Is Leading the Celebration in Orlando
So, what does this all look like on the local level? Glad you asked! NDD Orlando is going to be even bigger and better this year. Other Ways to Celebrate National Dance Day
Perhaps one of the coolest aspects of National Dance Day is the flexibility and online presence. Sure, coming out to class is a great way to observe this special day, but it’s not the only! At its core, NDD is about increasing exposure to dance and the countless benefits it provides your mind, body, and soul – and there are many ways to do that:
Learn the Official National Dance Day Routine (the link to the choreography should be available here in the weeks leading up to the event) at home or with friends and share your videos on social media with the hashtags #NationalDanceDay2025, #DanceWithADM, and #DanceOrlando!
Try out a class you’ve never done before and experience new movement and how it feels in your body. Whether it’s in-person or online, trying something new is a great way to learn and get comfortable with the uncomfortable.
Have your own silent (or not-so-silent) disco and dance like no one is watching! Just because it’s not being recorded or shared doesn’t mean it doesn’t count; you’ll still witness the oneness that comes with connecting body and mind.
Invite someone new to try out a class with you and have fun together in a different way. Looking for ways to break the ice with a new friend? Nothing better than a good old-fashioned sweatfest to learn more about each other and have fun in the process.
Join the Dance Party at Studio K!
So, with all that being said, September brings more than a cool(er?) breeze and idyllic fall vibes (especially here in Central Florida) - it’s a time of year to recognize and to celebrate the very thing we were all born with: movement.
Dance is about so much more than slicked-back buns, nerve-wracking auditions, and grueling rehearsals, it’s a celebration of life in its truest form. An art that is as much an outward expression as it is an internal reflection – and something that everyone on the planet deserves to experience.
This National Dance Day, come visit Studio K and fall in love with dance as it was intended; move like no one is watching and never forget that when you’re in our studio, The Floor Is Yours!
