What Is “Best of Orlando?"
Every year, Orlando Magazine embarks on a journey to discover the very best organizations, businesses, and people The City Beautiful has to offer. A prestigious honor bestowed upon only a handful of local entities, these awards are special because they’re entirely dependent on votes from the community – from those who know and love this city best.
With an expansive array of categories, the “Best of ORL” Awards highlight businesses from hair salons to mental health services, pet care to performing arts venues…and everything in between. More specifically, the awards are divided into roughly 100 different delineations – resulting in over 300 well-loved, fan favorite winners. What better way to browse and to support a wide variety of local Orlando businesses!

What Makes Studio K Special?
We recently asked one of our instructors, Itzaida – who has been with Studio K since the very beginning in 2010, and who currently teaches dancers how to “dance sexy” in her Burlesque Groove classes, what it is that she loves the most about teaching at Studio K. This was her response:
“Regardless of whether I’m an instructor or a student, my favorite thing about Studio K is the diversity. There’s no other studio that I know of that offers the variety of classes that it offers, but also the diversity with the people that come here. There are all ages, shapes, sizes – all walks of life – and I love that because I’m all about inclusivity and making everyone feel uniquely special.”

For those who grew up dancing, finding an outlet in your adult life that allows you to move freely and comfortably – particularly when it is not your chosen career – can feel exceptionally challenging. Until the last several years or so, it was virtually impossible to find a dance studio that had any adult classes – let alone offered numerous styles/levels and catered to that demographic of the population exclusively.
And while some options have been popping up across the country, Studio K was the first of its kind. After our owner and founder, Kristin, was all but turned away from a beginner jazz class back in 2010, she poured her entire life into forming the encouraging and loving Studio K community we know today. Her dream was to create a space where no one will ever experience the pain of judgment that keeps them from doing what they love – dancing.
