A special feature by Katie Davis
We love getting to know our members and this member was special to us right from the start. From her very first class, everyone saw such amazing talent come to life on the dance floor from such a nice, quiet girl! She lit up the room and over the months, we have watched her flourish more and more at the studio, to dancing professionally! We are so honored to have her as a member at Studio K and to call her our friend! Congratulations to our Member of the Month, April Lorenzi!
KD: Why did you choose Studio K as your choice dance/fitness studio?
AL: Initially I tried out a class because I knew other people who had taken classes here and I fell in love with the environment of Studio K. The studio itself is gorgeous and my experience has always been that I’ve felt very welcomed and met with positive and fun energy from those around me. When I heard about a special unlimited deal for new members I immediately signed up because the deal was unbeatable.
KD: When did you join Studio K as a member?
AL: I believe I joined around the end of February/beginning of March 2019.
KD: Can you describe your first experience attending a class at Studio K? AL: I cannot remember exactly which class I took initially (I have taken so many at this point) but I just remember loving the choreography we did and really enjoying the energy the class had.
KD: What do you do for work during the day?
AL: I work full-time as a performer at Disney, as well as a dancer at Teatro Martini Orlando dinner show.
KD: In your opinion, what makes Studio K different from other dance/fitness options? AL: I love the appearance of the studio, the positive/supportive environment and the unlimited deal that was unbeatable.
KD: What was the first class you ever took at Studio K? Favorite Class? AL: I can’t remember exactly what the first class was but I believe it was Musical Theater with Jamie Stout. My favorite classes are Jazz Funk with Alexa Barone and Musical Theater with Jamie Stout.
KD: Did you have a dance/fitness background before coming to Studio K? AL: Yes, I did competition dance in high school as well as attending a performing arts high school as a dance major. I also graduated with a dance minor in college.
KD: How has Studio K improved your dancing skills/opened performance opportunities for you? AL: Studio K has helped keep me in shape for auditions and allowed me to regularly take classes in all different styles of dance. It also connected me with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise.
KD: Which class have you not tried yet, but are looking forward to trying in the future? AL: I pretty much have tried most classes at this point, but I would love to make it to some of the special workshops that are offered.
KD: What advice do you have for people who want to try dance/fitness classes at Studio K, but are hesitant/nervous? AL: There is no reason to be nervous! Many classes cater to all ability levels and my experience has always been that everyone is very welcoming. It is one of the reasons I love the studio because it is such a positive and supportive environment.
KD: In a few words, what does Studio K mean to you? AL: A place where I can share my love of dance with other like-minded people.
Bonus Questions! KD: If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? AL: This is a hard one but I love Panera so probably if I could just eat food from Panera every day, I would be perfectly happy.
KD: If you were going to a deserted island and could only bring three things that are currently in your house right now, what would it be and why? (this could be something practical or sentimental) AL: These are very boring answers but a phone so I could keep in contact with everyone and then water and food.
KD: Would you rather be stuck in a snowstorm without heat or stuck in a heatwave without air conditioning AL: I would rather be in a heatwave without air conditioning by far-I hate the cold!
Congratulations again to April, and join her on the dance floor - see the full schedule for Studio K here!
