Dear Studio K Friends,
Words cannot express how thankful I am for all of your extraordinary kindness during this very difficult week. Your emails, calls, texts and messages meant the world to me and I am so deeply grateful. During this week when I have been dealing with a personal issue, I was also informed of some shocking news that will now change the future direction of Studio K. It is something that was never expected, but is something that we believe will be quite exciting for us moving forward.
As you may know, there are many changes and developments coming to the surrounding Studio K area. There is new road construction, new expansion for The Premium Outlets, and growth to our specific plaza. They were all changes that I was originally looking forward to enjoying to expand the awareness of Studio K, however, what was brought to my attention this week that I did not know is that the road will now connect to both I-4 as well as Palm Parkway, bringing an extreme amount of new traffic to our area in an already highly congested location. This causes more difficulty for members to reach us and make classes in a convenient and timely way, and also puts a new strain on our instructors for travel time and class preparedness.
The Premium Outlets have decided to expand, however, their expansion will now fill the majority of units in our plaza with warehouse stocking centers, and not viable businesses, which does not improve the consumer exposure for Studio K as planned, and will now eliminate the immediate parking by full-time warehouse employees, causing another inconvenience for our members and our staff. Also, this new warehouse inventory brings a safety concern as well for our business, and overall each of these changes brings a greatly reduced quality offering which is out of our control and not acceptable for our brand and for the members and clients we serve.
In addition, on a positive to the local economy, the changes bring great excitement to the city as an increase in tourism will also be driven to this shopping area, and the development raises overall costs. As wonderful as this is for our economy, our small business again will suffer, as our rent has now tripled in amount and taking all into consideration, the Studio K benefit pales in comparison to all of the new challenges that would be coming our way for this new price to pay.
So with all of that being said, it was my very difficult decision to either stay and offer a lesser quality, or to move Studio K to an even bigger and better location! I share all of this so that I may continue to remain completely transparent with each of you, so that you know that this decision was not easy, came quickly, and many factors contributed to this outcome and to my heartfelt conclusion. Making a strong business decision for our team and for the big picture growth and success of our company, I know that all things happen for a reason and Studio K is not comprised of simply one beautiful location or interior, but by the heart that will go with us wherever we choose to be.
With that being said, we want to celebrate this first location and special milestone the way we do best, and honor Studio K and each of you on National Dance Day this coming Saturday, July 28th! Details will be posted on the Events Tab of our Facebook page but this FREE event will open the doors to everyone of all ages, to the Central Florida community, and to the media, to dance with us all day long! So please check our Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/studiokorlando for further details, times, and to hold your spot on the floor.
Lastly, to all of our members, we are currently seeking our new home and hope to open in the next few months. At this time, all members with any remaining classes on any punch card, Groupon or LivingSocial deal, will be honored in full. Also, to all of our monthly members, you will receive one free month in addition to any extra time owed to you this July as our way of giving you an extra thank you to committing to us in a yearly membership the way you did and for coming back to us again if you choose to do so. And to our All-Stars, we will pick up again immediately for our reopen and kick off your performances at our next Grand Opening event!
This has been a very tough decision but I strongly believe that it will be the best for Studio K to take us even further than we have already gone as a leader in the dance and fitness industry nationwide, and I give you my word that we already have much planned to create something even stronger, more innovative, and more powerful than ever before.
Thank you again with all of my heart for your kindness, love and support, and I hope to see you each of you on July 28th to thank you in person and to celebrate this next step of our amazing journey together!
