Amber “Phoenix” Salaz

Amber “Phoenix” Salaz is originally from Colorado where she taught dance classes in ballet, tap, and jazz to dancers and non-dancers of all ages. She quickly became a sought-after musical theater choreographer for shows including: HMS Pinafore, Once on this Island, Oliver, Little Shop of Horrors, and more. Amber is also an accomplished performer and has starred in shows such as: The Producers, Into the Woods, and The Sound of Music, as well as had the amazing opportunity to play Isabel in the world premiere of the opera Sarah McKinnon, written and directed by Mark Medoff (Tony Award Winner and Oscar Nominated, Children of a Lesser God).

Amber relocated to Orlando in 2005 with her husband, where she discovered her love of belly dance and the many styles the art form offers. She currently performs as “Phoenix” with the professional troupe Samira’s Sahara Stars in Lakeland, and is also a regular dancer at Lakeland’s Hookah Palace. In addition, Amber was honored to be selected as a featured soloist in the 40th Festival on the Nile.

Amber says, “No matter what age, no matter what body type, belly dance is for everyone. Confidence and positive self-image are found along the way, but you just have to be willing to take the first step!”
